Liverpool Unbeaten Home Run, Ended by Late Burnley Penalty

So here's the rundown summary of how Ashley Barnes's late penalty earned Burnley all three points and the delight of ending Liverpool's unbeaten home match streak. The 1-0 victory was all they needed.

The Reds took control of the match proceedings early on and dictated play throughout the majority of minutes. First half efforts from an early Sadio Mane header, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi called the Burnley goalkeeper, Nick Pope into the thick of everything during the first forty-five.
On the 44th minute, the Burnley captain produced a defensive error which Origi quickly pounced on, doing everything right until the last moment where he crashed the ball against the cross bar with Pope only looking on.

The 58th minute saw Klopp introduce Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino who were left out of the starting lineup. Not long into the double change, Mo Salah was goal sight and unfortunately had his low angled effort, met with a fine stop from Pope, whose reflexes seemed to be in perfect working order, all match long.

As the Reds continued their press, a chance fell to Mane from a Salah cutbackover but the Senegalese put much behind his shot and took it over the goalpost. Burnley generated a chance of theirs through excellent wing-play from Dwight McNeil and once again, the rare chance was wasted by second-half substitute, Johann Gudmunsson.

The Reds could still find no way through with a later wide side-footed attempt by Bobby Firmino on 72 minutes. Within the last ten of normal time, Alisson Becker, brought down Ashley Barnes in the penalty area.

The Burnley co-striker powered the ball into the net which turned out to be the end of Liverpool's 68-match unbeaten home record.

They currently sit on 34 points, six points behind Manchester United, the current league leaders after 19 matches played this season.
